You would have to have been reading my private journal to fully agree that I have, indeed, called it right. To wit I shall copy what I wrote the day after the elections last November:
So, the election has gone to the Democrats. Not what I wanted, but not the end of the world either.
Basically it is history proving itself out; two or three terms is about all any party gets on average. But, with the Democrats in charge of the House, and likely the Senate, there are some things that we need to prepare for.
First, the economy will take a hit. Every time the Democratic party is in control of any aspect of our government we end up in a recession with in the following two years. Right now the economy is fairly robust although slowing somewhat and in a controlled decline. Interest rates are holding, housing is slowing as predicted, but productivity and unemployment are, respectively, at their best levels in years. If, as the candidates promised, there is a huge tax increase due to the removal of recent tax cuts we can expect interest rates to rise, rather rapidly; we can also expect to see a huge sell off in stocks and the decline of the markets.
What does this all mean for us average Americans? Well, number one, if you are in an adjustable rate mortgage your house payments are going to go up, and I predict rather substantially. As rates go up, houses will become more expensive to purchase and pay off and further declines in house purchases. This is odd, because the Dems try to portray themselves as the Peoples Party (sounds communitic, eh?) and want the poor to get their own houses ect. They will not be able afford it! These same rates will also cause credit card rates to go up meaning that people will have less money in their pockets to spend and the economy will start a slow spiral downward.
Sad but true. As people spend less because of the extra taxes they are paying, higher house/car payments, higher credit card debts, ect. it will cause layoffs in the higher paying jobs in the tech/industrial sector which will cause further declines in the economy, on and on and on until we are in a full blown recession, border line depression. Add potential inflation to this and we are looking at a bleak future indeed. And it is possible to do a LOT of damage in the two years until our next election cycle and take about 6-8 years of damage control until we get it ironed out. The Dems, of course, will blame former Republican policy for the countries woes, but that simply will not be the case. But, Dan, the tax increases will only be on the rich! Um, no. True that the rich already pay the majority of the taxes (people making less than $30k a year pay no taxes at all, they get it all back) but the majority of Americans who rate as the Middle Class and can not afford these tax increases like the Upper Class will face the increased burden and the since there are more of us than them (mid to upper ratios being what they are) the economy will suffer.
The second thing that we have a strong potential to see is an increase in terror attacks and possibly right here on our home soil. The new lay of the land is that of pacification. This policy will not work on a people who view pacification as a sign of weakness. They also know that if the Gov't will not back up a President who is willing to tackle them head on, they will be seriously emboldened. We need to remember that these people view us as a religious issue and "The Great Satan" long before we ever took the war to them. They want us dead and defeated. Period. How do we defeat them? Stand up to them and show them, undeniably, that our God is stronger than thier god.
One last thing that is going to raise a ruckus in this country and create some havoc is the political infighting that is now going to occur. Partisan issues will play further havoc on our system and create issues that are at least tedious and Hazardous at best. Dems have been hinting at impeachment of President Bush for a while now and if they attempt that it creates an atmosphere that our fighting men and women just don't need. They require a strong, united people and Gov't behind them until the War on Terror is completed. And the potential for partisan fighting on any issue will pretty much bring our Gov't to a halt.
Nothing much good can come out of the next two years. Is all of this sure and certain to happen? No. But history does repeat itself and it has been played out time and time again. In this vein I am fairly secure in my statements. Our political system is broken and become a power struggle and a one-up-man-ship rather than a true representation of the people by the people for the people. Sen. Bill Frist called himself a "citizen statesman" and while I didn't agree everything he did, he did have the right attitude about it and stuck to his initial campaign promise of only one or two terms. Term limits are not the answer either, but people willing to actually represent their constituants are what we need. And the majority of America is still pretty conservative as indicated by the passing and defeating of several "moral issues" that were on the ballots across our country. The Dems need to look at this and take heed and react accordingly.I voted yesterday and had my say. I trust in God that He will not desert us and will continue to hold us up and protect us. I stand behind our President and his aims and goals. And I am an American who will remain involved in the system.
So, anyway, the first is coming true. Up go the taxes that the poor don't pay and the rich can afford. I do pay them and can not afford them. Do we hear anything about this coming tax hike in the media? No. Why do you suppose that is? Couldn't be that the media is biased, now could it?
And with the crash in the housing market and the S&L like way that the industry is acting, I think the second part is about to come true as well.
Well, if it could not be the Seahawks...

...the Eagles are okay, then.
Some records were set. Most yards in the SB. Foles was the first QB to
catch a TD pass. Probably more.
Our most gracious...
